Odessa man charged with crashing into two houses, running from police

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

An Odessa man is facing multiple charges after being accused of crashing into two houses on Christmas.

Officers say a car crashed into homes on South Lee and East Mable.

Police say 23-year-old Raphael Lee was the driver.

They found him hiding in a carpet roll, just blocks from the second house.

He initially gave officers a fake name, but was eventually identified.

Police discovered he was wanted out of Austin for a burglary and noticed he dropped a bag of marijuana on the ground.

While he was being taken to the hospital for his injuries, the report says Lee jumped out of the ambulance while he was handcuffed.

They caught him again hiding behind some bushes.

Police eventually discovered the car Lee was accused of crashing belonged to a woman.

That woman told police Lee assaulted her and stole the car.

Lee is facing multiple charges including robbery, assault and escape from custody.
