Ward County fugitive arrested during forgery call

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

Two people are behind bars following a forgery call in Odessa on Wednesday afternoon.

Odessa police were called out to West Texas State Bank in the 2400 block of North Grandview Avenue in reference to a forgery in progress.

Police say an investigation revealed a male and female, later identified as Lizeth Tarango, 28, and Eric Yanez, 33, were attempting to cash a fraudulent check for $1,000.

Further investigation revealed the check belong to a person no longer living.

According to the report, the two were suspects in prior incidents and also had blank checks in their possession that didn't belong to them.

Police say Yanez had a felony evading warrant out of Ward County.

Tarango has been charged with forgery of a financial instrument and possession of marijuana while Yanez was charged with forgery of a financial instrument and evading in a vehicle (warrant).
