ECTOR COUNTY, TX (KWES) -

Two men are dead following a morning accident in Ector County on Monday morning.

The accident happened just before 11:15 a.m. on FM 866 about 9 miles west of Odessa.

DPS Troopers tell NewsWest9, a 2013 Peterbuilt truck failed to control speed, hit the rear of a 2012 Peterbuilt crane that was slowing to make a turn on Ranch Road Street.

The collision caused the Peterbuilt truck to veer into the northbound lane of travel, struck a 2015 Ford F-350 that was traveling northbound, causing the vehicle to catch fire.

Two people in the Ford F-350, Jessie Javier Urias, 35, and Victor Jimenez Vasquez, 22, both of Monahans, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Peterbuilt truck, Luis Saucedo Lopez, 22, of Fort Stockton, Texas, was taken to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa and is currently listed in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported.
