ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

An Odessa man is behind bars accused of threatening an Odessa police officer.

According to a press release from Odessa Police, they were called out to the 5000 block of East University last month in reference to a criminal mischief.

When officers arrived on the scene, Officer Jonathan Campbell made contact with the complainants in reference to a vehicle that was damaged.

According to the report, while Campbell was making the report, the complainants received a phone call from 24-year-old Herbey Garcia.

Police say the complainants knew it was Garcia's voice because they personally knew him.

During the call, police say Garcia made statements that he was going to come and shoot Campbell. Also, during the call, Garcia described Campbell's physical description, indicating that he was watching him from an unknown location. The report stated that those statements were heard by the complainants, as well as from Officer Campbell's recording system.

Authorities say Garcia's threat influenced Odessa Police to respond to the area and look for Garcia in order to prevent potential violence against officers.

Garcia was arrested on Monday afternoon and charged with terroristic threat.

More than half of the 17 people killed when a tourist boat sank on a Branson lake were members of the same Indiana family, and they likely wouldn't have been on the ill-fated trip but for a ticket mix-up.
