Residents Allowed to Return Home Following Oil Well Blowout Near Seminole

SEMINOLE, TX (KWES) - Good news for those evacuated near Seminole after an oil well blowout last week.

Authorities say a majority of the people who were forced to leave their homes have now been allowed to go back.

The well blowout caused a hydrogen sulfide leak, which is a very dangerous and deadly gas.

Nearly 500 people were evacuated from the area.

A Red Cross shelter was set up for the evacuees to have access to food, water, clothing and a place to sleep.
