Student Facing Disciplinary Action After Gun Scare at Permian High School

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

One Permian High School student is facing disciplinary action following an incident on Friday afternoon.

Ector County ISD administrators tell NewsWest 9, Permian High School administrators received a tip of a student on campus, possibly with a gun.

We’re told campus police located the student and authorities found a pellet gun in his backpack.

Administrators say that the pellet gun is not illegal and the student won’t face and criminal charges. However, the gun is a violation of the student code of conduct.

School administrators are asking parents to help resolve these situations by being aware of what their students are taking to school in their backpacks.

Officials say any report of a weapon on campus will be taken seriously and be investigated.
