ODESSA, TX (KWES) - The judge in Salvador Becerra trial denied a defense motion for a mistrial on Wednesday afternoon.

Assistant District Attorney Michael Bloch admitted to approaching and speaking to a male juror he recognized.

Judge James Rush says he "finds the communication improper" but chose not to declare a mistrial. The juror in question has not been replaced with an alternate.

Witness testimony is continuing in the case.

Becerra was indicted on six counts of improper sexual activity with a person in custody and one count of sexual assault.
