Homeowner Shoots Burglary Suspect in Odessa

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - One suspect is in the hospital following an early morning incident in Odessa.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they responded to the 3200 block of Rembrandt in reference to a disturbance just after 2 a.m. Monday morning.

When officers arrived, they made contact with the homeowner and he told police that a known suspect began kicking in the front door to his home while holding a gun.

Police say an investigation revealed that the homeowner fired several rounds at the suspect. That's when the suspect fled the scene in a truck.

Authorities say further investigation revealed the suspect also vandalized the homeowner's vehicle.

We're told police later located the suspect at Medical Center Hospital with a gunshot wound to the lower body.

The suspect's name has not yet been released but detectives are in the process of obtaining warrants for the suspect and those warrants will be served upon release.
