ODESSA, TX (KWES) - There was a heavy police presence Friday near Nimitz Middle School.
It all started around 4 p.m. when a woman was putting up Christmas lights while waiting for her grandson to get home from school.
The witness tells us, "The car came squealing loud around the corner and I ran out because I wanted to tell him to stop or slow down because there are kids."
The woman says she knew what would happen next, "I knew then he was going to hit my Jeep. The way that he came squealing across."
The witness was surprised hot the driver reached after he hit her Jeep, "He jumped and started running and the passenger got out."
ECISD Communications Director, Mike Adkins tells NewsWest 9, "An ECISD Police Officer attempted to make a traffic stop, the car sped away from the officer, crashed into a nearby car, and the driver attempted to flee on foot."
