ODESSA, TX (KWES) - TXU customers are getting some help from the Salvation Army in Odessa.
"There's so many people out there in need and we can't help everybody. But at least being able to help with TXU is wonderful," said Captain Monica Contreras with the Odessa Salvation Army.
The electric company gave the nonprofit a $45,000 check on Thursday.
It will help Odessans who aren't able to pay their electricity bills.
We're told TXU has been doing this with the Salvation Army since 1983.
Officials say they're humbled to be giving back to the community.
"It's about helping others in time of need and when we're able to meet through a program like TXU has, it just really warms our heart and lets us know that we're doing the right thing and we're helping the people that need the help and that's really what it's all about," said Captain Joe Contreras with the Odessa Salvation Army.
