Xcel Energy Expanding Transmission Lines

Xcel Energy is upgrading its system of providing energy in Eddy and Lea counties.

This week, the company dedicated a 42 mile transmission line between the two counties.

The company has plans to upgrade it in the future and says it will be part of a major system to move energy in Southeast New Mexico.

The project is part of a $200 million investment this year.

It includes more than 250 miles of transmission and distribution lines and seven new substations in the area.
