Authorities Respond Regarding Police Texting, Driving in Midland

Controversy over the texting and driving ban in Midland.

Some NewsWest9 viewers and Facebook friends complain they've seen police officers texting.

They asked us why police can be texting while they drive.

City of Midland leaders say they are allowed to text but only if it is for official police business.

If you catch an officer texting, take down their car number.

Then give the Midland Police Department a call at (432) 685-7108, explain it to the front desk and they will transfer you to a supervisor.
