Police Investigating Accidental Shooting in Midland

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

A teenager in Midland is in the hospital after a shooting.

The gunfire rang out Wednesday night after 6 p.m. at the Park Square Apartment Homes.

Police say when officers got there, they found a 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the torso.

He was taken to the hospital and is recovering.

We're told one other person was involved and there's no word on who fired the gun.

Police say the shooting appears to be accidental but they're looking into whether or not foul play was involved.

"In order for an investigation to happen quickly, we need to have all the facts in place. We need to have cooperative subjects, but sometimes that isn't the case and it takes a little bit longer," said Midland Public Information Officer, Sara Bustilloz.

It's unclear how many shots were fired.

No arrests have been made.
