Mike Conaway Speaks at Town Hall Meeting

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

A well known politician made a stop in the Permian Basin today.

U.S. Representative Mike Conaway spoke at the JBS Public Leadership Institute in Odessa, touching on several topics.

Those topics included the GOP debate tonight, the humanitarian crisis in Russia and removing detainees from Guantanamo Bay.

One of the biggest issues Conaway discussed was President Obama's ban on the Keystone Pipeline.

Conaway tells NewsWest9 he is upset with the decision.

"He's pandering. Political pandering," says Conaway. "And he was so smug and arrogant in his announcement, and so condescending with his rebuttal of why we thought it was important that that was offensive in itself, but disappointed. We get him out of there, maybe we can revisit that subject and to get that pipeline built."
?
Conaway says heavy crude oil, which is what the pipeline would have brought, would have been what the refineries in the Basin needed.
