Alpine Police Warning of Email Scam

ALPINE, TX (KWES) -

Alpine Police are warning residents about a scam going around via email.

They say people have reported receiving emails from someone claiming to be a State agency collecting on unpaid traffic tickets.

The email says that if the recipient fails to pay immediately, they will be arrested.

Police say no agencies will contact you via email, and that if you receive one, you should not reply.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can call (432) 837-3486.

More than half of the 17 people killed when a tourist boat sank on a Branson lake were members of the same Indiana family, and they likely wouldn't have been on the ill-fated trip but for a ticket mix-up.
