The Ector County Independent School District is trying to cut down on inappropriate relationships between students and teachers.
They are introducing a new provision to their employee handbook which now bans students and teachers from texting before 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
There are some exceptions for teachers who sponsor extracurriculars or after school programs.
The ethical code has been in place for a few years but was only recently formalized in the employee handbook.
All communications between student and teacher will still be analyzed on a case by case basis.
The new provisions to the handbook give clear expectations for the teachers.
