Flash Flood Watch Remains in Effect

Rain is moving back into the area Wednesday through Friday with the heaviest rain expected Wednesday night and early on Thursday.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until Thursday at 7 p.m. CDT for all counties in the NewsWest 9 viewing area.

We are forecasting 1-4" across the Permian Basin through Thursday morning. The heaviest rain is expected to fall along and north of Interstate 20. Localized total amounts of rainfall could reach 5"+ in Gaines, Andrews, Dawson and Borden Counties.

Remember the general rule when encountering a flood prone area, "Turn Around, Don't Drown." Water depth can be difficult to judge especially at night. It only takes 6 inches of running water to knock an adult off of their feet!

NewsWest 9 will be monitoring the rain event throughout the week and will keep you up to date with all the latest.
