Burn Ban to Take Effect in Midland County

MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (KWES) - A burn ban will soon begin in Midland County.

The ban will take effect Thursday, October 15, and prohibits outdoor burning in unincorporated areas.

Midland County Commissioners met Tuesday to discuss the ban.

Midland County Judge Mike Bradford signed the order after receiving the recommendation from County Fire Marshal Dale Little.

The order will not ban outdoor cooking in approved containers or outdoor burning activities related to public health and safety, such as firefighter training, public utility, natural gas pipeline and mining operations, planting or harvesting of agricultural crops and burns that are conducted by a certified burn manager.
Violation of this ban could result in a fine of up to $500.

After the new order begins, it will continue for a 90-day period.
