MIDLAND COUNTY, TX (KWES) - At the breast cancer awareness cook off, NewsWest 9 talked with many breast cancer survivors. They were there to spread support and their personal experience with breast cancer. One survivor, an employee of True Oil, is currently diagnosed with breast cancer and just recently completed treatment. She told us a little about her journey through breast cancer treatment. She also shared with us what made her want to be apart of today's event filled with others who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
"Provide support as their families have to walk through those situations because it's a financial drain and not everybody has the capability of doing that and so being able to be apart of this that then supports hands of hope that directly impacts families that are dealing with breast cancer and the financial strain of that, it's actually a privilege and a joy to be out here and be apart of it," said Jamie Rhoads, a breast cancer survivor.
