Howard County Residents Petition For Lower College Tax Rate

HOWARD COUNTY, TX (KWES) -

A group of Howard County residents have started a petition to lower the new Howard College tax rate.

The petition needed 1054 signatures, and organizers say they exceeded that number.

Howard College says they received the petition on Monday and turned it over to the Howard County Elections Administration for validation.

The petition has been accepted by the Elections Administration and officials have until October 25 to validate it.

If there are enough confirmed signatures, an election could be called in December in which Howard County residents can vote for or against the current rate.
