Military Convoy Passing Through West Texas

Military Convoy Passing Through West Texas

Big Spring and Midland residents need not be alarmed if they see a mass of military vehicles around town on Thursday.

Both towns will be welcoming the Military Vehicle Preservation Association's Bankhead Highway Military convoy.

The convoy is planning to pass through with as many as 65 privately owned Historic Military Vehicles, and will include motorcycles, jeeps and large cargo trucks.

The vehicles will range in age from the World War I era to those just released from armed forces inventories.

The convoy will begin in Big Spring, driving down Third Street in Thursday, October 8, around 9:15 a.m., just before their morning break at Hangar 25 Air Museum.

The public is encouraged to come out and show support during the convoy with American flags and can view the vehicles at Hangar 25 Air Museum during their break.

The convoy will continue on that day and arrive in Midland around 2 p.m.

Midland residents will be able to view the vehicles from 2 to 5 p.m. at their gathering location, 4001 FM 715.

The public is also welcome to stop by for a photo opportunity with the military vehicles when the convoy crew stops to dine at KD's Bar-B-Q on Garden City Highway from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

This will be the M.V.P.A.'s 95th Anniversary Convoy.
