Texas Lt. Gov. Discusses State Propositions at Odessa Country Club

A well-known Texas politician made a stop in the Permian Basin on Tuesday.

Texas' Lieutenant Governor, Dan Patrick, was at the Odessa Country Club talking about what's going to be on the ballot this November election.

He and State Representative, Brooks Landgraf, are urging voters to say yes to propositions one through seven.

Patrick mainly spoke about proposition 1 and 7.

He says proposition 1 will help save people property tax money by increasing homestead exemption from $15,000 to $25,000.

It will also prohibit transfer taxes when any property is sold.

As for proposition 7, it will allow the state to put two and a half million dollars more to transportation without increasing taxes.

"First of all, people want property tax relief and they don't want a tax when they sell their property added to the bill at the end of the sale. You know, the dangerous situations we have on the road, the fatalities that we had and there was not adequate transportation funding to West Texas in the past. Now that I'm Lieutenant Governor, we want to be sure that West Texas gets their fair share," said Patrick.

Elections will be held on Tuesday, November 3.
