ANDREWS COUNTY, TX (KWES)
The reliever route in Andrews is set to reopen in just six weeks.
The triple digit heat last summer caused the tar to come off the surface of the rock.
The road was closed off for nearly a year before re-construction started on it in May.
It was estimated to be completed by December but the city says they're ahead of schedule.
The city hired a new contractor for the job and the price tag for the repairs is just under $13 million.
The total price tag for the whole project is now around $25 million.
