Hobbs Man Killed Following Deadly Crash Saturday Evening

HOBBS, NM (KWES) - One man is dead following a crash in Hobbs Saturday evening.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. on Dal Paso St. near the intersection of Campbell St.

New Mexico State Police tell us a 2002 Ford pickup, driven by Aleesha McBride, 27, of Hobbs, was traveling southbound on NM 132 (Dal Paso St.). Near the intersection of Campbell St., a 1999 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Chyenne Cody Norris, 29, of Hobbs, was also traveling southbound on NM 132 and slowing down to turn left into a residence.

As the Jeep attempted to turn left, the Ford pickup collided into the Jeep. Both vehicles exited the roadway and the Jeep rolled, ejecting the driver from the vehicle.
Aleesha McBride drove away from the scene and was found shortly after by law enforcement.

Mr. Norris was transported to the Lea County Regional Hospital and succumbed to his injuries.
New Mexico State Police officers conducted a thorough investigation.

The New Mexico State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit also responded to assist with the investigation.

Aleesha McBride was arrested and charged with Vehicular Homicide, Leaving the Scene of a Crash, Suspended Driver's License, and Concealing Identity. 
This crash is still under investigation and no further details are available at this time.
