Police: Midland Man Tries to Speed Past Them

MIDLAND, TX (KWES) -

Midland Police say a man tried to speed his way past them.

The report says officers clocked Daniel Cao, 22, at 97 miles an hour in a 40 mile per hour zone.

Police say following Cao was a SUV going 89 miles an hour.

Officers tried to pull both vehicles over.

They say they lost sight of the SUV but saw Cao turn onto a street.

Police turned onto that street and at first didn't see any cars.

But then, they say they saw the red reflection of some tail lights.

The report says Cao was in the middle of the street and turned his lights on.

He tried to drive off but pulled over.

Police say he admitted to turning his lights off to try and hide from them.
