Odessa Man Accused of Robbery

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - An Odessa man is behind bars after being accused of robbery.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest9, they were called out to the 6600 block of Amber on Tuesday in reference to a man attempting to steal a vehicle.

When officers arrived they saw a man sitting in the driver's seat of a 2015 Ford Flex.

The man was later identified as Justin Johnson, 21, of Odessa.

Police say the victim told them that Johnson approached him at his house and asked him to trade vehicles but the victim refused.

That's when, according to police, Johnson pushed the victim to the ground and got into the Ford Flex and tried to start the vehicle with the push start button.

Johnson was later arrested and charged with robbery.

Johnson is behind bars at the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on a $50,000 bond.
