Odessa Woman Accused of Endangering a Child

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - An Odessa woman was arrested on Monday on charges of endangering a child.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest9, they were called out to the 1000 block of Dwayne in reference to a found child.

A witness reported to police that they could hear a child crying in the 900 block of Monahans, just before noon. Then, about 15 minutes, later when the witness went back to area, they could hear a child crying and decided to investigate.

The witness told police they found an infant under a bush covered in stickers, sweat, tears and snot.

Police say the witness took the child home, called police and the one year old child was taken to Medical Center Hospital with unknown injuries.

Authorities later spoke with Marissa Collins, 22, and she told officers that she was babysitting the child and that the child was sleeping upstairs.

Collins told police that she didn't know the child was missing and hadn't checked on him in four and half hours.

Police say the witness found the child about 75 feet away from the home where the child was staying at.

Collins was later taken to the Odessa Police Department and was later arrested and charged with endangering a child.
