MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The City of Midland has issued a traffic alert, warning drivers of some upcoming road projects and road closures.
Below is a list of the projects and closures in detail, released by city officials.
Fiscal Year 2015 Mill/Overlay Project:
The Fiscal Year 2015 Mill/Overlay Project will continue the week of Sept. 21 at Wadley Avenue between Big Spring Street and Lamesa Road, and Scharbauer Drive between Lamesa Road and Fairgrounds Road. During the project, lane closures will be used at Wadley Avenue and Scharbauer Drive and curb side parking will be prohibited.
Colorado St. between Ohio Ave. & Illinois Ave.
The Contractor working for the City Of Midland on the demolition of the Mid America Building will close Colorado Street from 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18 to 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 21.
Fiscal Year 2015 Crack Seal Project:
The Fiscal Year 2015 Crack Seal Project will continue the week of Sept. 21 at various locations at southwest Midland. During the project, traffic will be channeled around the crack seal operation.
Fiscal Year 2015 Micro-Surfacing Project:
The Fiscal Year 2015 Micro-Surfacing Project will continue the week of Sept. 21. Lane closures will used during the project at the following locations:
• Lamesa Road between Walnut Lane and Front Street
• Illinois Avenue between Andrews Highway and A Street
• Garfield Street between Bluebird Lane and Golf Course Road
• Midkiff Road between Golf Course Road and Wadley Avenue
• A Street between Mockingbird Lane and Loop 250
• Wadley Avenue between Loop 250 and Crowley Boulevard
• Scharbauer Drive between Golf Course and A Street
Pavement Repair at Loop 250 and Wadley Avenue:
The Transportation Division will continue repairing damaged pavement at the Loop 250 and Wadley Avenue intersection the week of Sept. 21. Lane closures will occur on Wadley Avenue.
Utility Extension Program:
The contractor working for the City of Midland on the 2014 Utility Extension Program project will be performing work in the area of Carrizo Street from Wall Street to Illinois Avenue, including the intersections at Wall Street, Texas Avenue, and Illinois Avenue. During construction several intersections and sections of streets may be reduced to one lane or closed at these locations.
Douglas Avenue & D Street Paving & Drainage Improvement Project:
The contractor has completed installing the storm drainage along D Street and Douglas Avenue. Paving crews have started installing the concrete valley gutter along Douglas. This area will remain closed to thru traffic until contractor has completed.
West Loop 250 & Interstate 20 Service Roads:
TxDOT has a project underway to install traffic signals on West Loop 250 on the service roads of Interstate 20. The signals have been installed and are operating in flash mode. The signals should be in full operation in a few weeks.
Also, multiple oversize load impacts have caused damage to the Loop 250 overpasses at this interchange in recent months, and lane restrictions are in place while repairs are pending.
Midkiff Road to Horseshoe Arena Waterline Extension Project:
