BIG SPRING, TX (KWES)
The Big Spring City Council has initially given the green light to pass both the proposed tax rate and budget.
One person spoke out against the proposed tax rate of 77 cents, which was determined at a meeting last month.
It's a few cents less than last year but will actually bring in more revenue for the city.
The council voted unanimously to pass the proposed rate in their first reading.
However, there will be a final vote during a city council meeting on September 21.
