Midland, Odessa City Offices to be Closed Labor Day

The City of Midland and City of Odessa offices will be closed for Labor Day on Monday, September 7.

In Odessa, there will not be a trash pickup service on that day. Roll-out cart service customers will have their trash picked up Tuesday, September 8.

City officials say to avoid an overflow of trash, Odessa residents are encouraged to recycle their items at the Odessa Recycle Center at 816 West 42nd St. Drop off windows for cardboard, plastics, paper, aluminum and tin cans are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The City of Odessa reminds residents that bulky items piled next to alley dumpsters is illegal, as it prevents Solid Waste trucks from picking up containers when service resumes.

During the holiday, city trash receptacles should be for perishable items only.

In Midland, the landfill and Citizens Collection Station will be closed Monday. Residential roll-out cart service will remain on schedule, and Solid Waste will work extended hours Tuesday through Friday to service the metal alley containers following the holiday weekend.

The City of Midland's Facebook page adds that emergency personnel will work normal shifts to provide services to the community.

Midland city offices will re-open on Tuesday, September 8.
