Search and Rescue Teams Join Search for Missing Carlsbad Man

EDDY COUNTY, NM (KWES) -

The Carlsbad Police Department and the Eddy County Sheriff's Office are searching for a man that was last seen September 1.

They need the public's help finding 27-year-old Michael Martinez. He is described as 5'6" and 135 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.

According to the Carlsbad Police Department's Facebook page, they say Martinez was last seen walking away from a remote oil field location near Whites City Road off Mile Marker 4 on Highway 285.

The family of Martinez tells NewsWest 9 that he worked for Jaime's Welding in Carlsbad, and the rig he was working on belonged to Chevron.

Martinez is listed as a missing person with the Eddy County Sheriff's Office.

With the help of New Mexico State Police, a command post and search and rescue teams are searching the area.
