Hobbs Police Searching for Man Accused of Causing Motorcycle Crash

HOBBS, NM (KWES) -

Hobbs Police need your help locating the man accused of causing a deadly crash involving a motorcycle.

It happened Friday evening just before 7:30 at the intersection of Turner Street and Yeso Street.

Hobbs Police say the operator of the motorcycle, 26-year-old Joshua Lewis of Hobbs, was unresponsive and was transported to Lea Regional Medical Center where he later died.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the motorcycle which was driven by Lewis was going northbound on Turner, when another vehicle traveling the opposite direction turned in front of Lewis, causing the crash.

The vehicle that caused the crash was reportedly driven by 22-year-old Leonardo Morales of Hobbs. Morales fled the scene and remains on the run.

Police say an arrest warrant has been issued, charging Morales with one count of Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury, a 4th degree felony.
