Three people are dead after an accident in Martin County.

It happened Friday evening just after 8:30 p.m. on I-20, approximately one mile West of Stanton.

In the Texas Department of Public Safety's report, they say a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 was traveling East on I-20 when it drove across the center median into oncoming traffic.

That's when it collided with a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was traveling East.

The driver of the Dodge Ram survived and was treated and released on scene.

56-year-old Andres Madrid Chavez of Tulsa, OK, who was driving the Jeep, and his two passengers, 33-year-old Eleazar Madrid Perez of Broken Arrow, OK, and 59-year-old Rosa Maria Perez de Madrid of Tulsa, all were pronounced dead on scene.

Traffic had to be diverted to the service road as emergency crews responded to the wreck.

DPS says all parties involved were wearing their seat belts.

It is unknown if the driver of the Dodge Ram will face any charges. DPS says the investigation is ongoing.
