1 Shot, 1 Arrested After Shooting at Andrews Country Club Parking Lot

A shooting took place in the parking lot of the Andrews Country Club on Wednesday. The victim is in  a Lubbock hospital. The gunman is locked up. Police haven't said who the victim is, where he was shot, or what his condition is. Nearby homeowners say it's usually a quiet area and they're shocked this happened in their small community.

"It is pretty scary. I've grown up here my whole entire life and I haven't had anything this crazy and so close happen. We're just one house away," said Lori Ruiz who lives across the street.

The shooting happened just after 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Andrews Country Club.

"I was just like I got to get my kids ready and I got to get out of here," said Ruiz.

Police say Pedro Franco, 37, and the victim were arguing inside of vehicle when Franco shot him several times.

"Such a small safe town and now people are shooting at people," said Ruiz.

Franco took off on foot down an alley but police quickly tracked him down and caught him.

"Very uneasy. Very uneasy. They could have came down our alley. God forbid they could have jumped our fence," said Ruiz.

Homes are just feet away from where the shooting happened and neighbors are concerned because they have kids that could have been hurt.

"They could have been playing outside and something bad could have happened," said Ruiz.

A woman was inside the vehicle when the shooting went down. She was not hurt and police say she is not facing charges for being involved. We did reach out to the country club but they denied to comment. Be sure to stick with NewsWest 9 as update you on the victims condition.
