MIDLAND, TX (KWES)
Midland City Council members talked about the new, proposed tax rate at their meeting on Tuesday.
The proposed tax rate is set at 38 cents, as well as a three percent effective over that rate.
If it's approved, the amount of taxes on the average home would be nearly $30 more than last year.
All city council members including Mayor Jerry Morales were for the tax hike.
However, Councilmember Sharla Hotchkiss was absent.
Council members also heard from the public over the proposed tax rate.
They say the increase will allow the council to keep up with the growth of the Tall City.
