Man Arrested in Connection to Deadly Motorcycle Accident

An arrest has been made in connection to a deadly motorcycle crash in Midland County last week.

Jeffrey Garvin, 26, is behind bars up on intoxication manslaughter charges.

The arrest affidavit says he collided head on into a motorcycle killing 25-year-old Justin Southerland.

The wreck happened Thursday night on Highway 80.

State troopers say Garvin turned on the highway but in the wrong direction and that's when he struck the motorcycle.

Southerland's passenger, Avonlea Villalobos, 16, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The report says Garvin left the crash scene.

A witness told authorities Garvin went up to him and said he needed a ride because he was involved in an accident and needed to get out of there.

Troopers say they could smell alcohol coming from Garvin and he told them he drank two 24-ounce bottles of beer.
