Two Armed Men Rob West Odessa Domino's

WEST ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Two men robbed the Domino's Pizza at 9001 W University Blvd early Thursday morning, officials said.

The unidentified suspects fled with employees' cell phones and an undisclosed amount of cash after entering the business through a back door around 2:50 a.m., according to the Ector County Sheriff's Office.

They remained at large Thursday night, Sgt. Gary Duesler said.

"Two Domino's employees were closing up for the night," he told NewsWest 9. "They were in the back office area completing some paperwork... when they heard the back door slam. They looked up to see two men, both wearing blue bandanas, black hoodies and blue medical gloves."

One was holding a handgun and the other had a rifle, the employees told officers.

They suspects demanded money from the night deposit bag and cash register, in addition to the two workers' cell phones.

"They complied and no one was injured," said Duesler. "[Anyone in a similar situation should] always comply. It's not worth losing your life over."

Investigators could not provide a clear description of the two aggravated robbery suspects. Height, age and race are unknown.

"It makes me sad [to hear about this incident] because these people are like my family," said Domino's customer James Hawkes. "Things have gotten bad around Odessa since the [oil] boom went away... Makes me feel like everyone's gotten desperate."

Another customer, Shawn Baird, said he works half a mile away from the pizza business but rarely explores the area alone.

"[My co-workers and I] always [go out] together," he told NewsWest 9. "Usually three or four of us, just in came something happens. I've heard about how bad the crime is out here."
