Odessa Man Arrested For Intoxication Assault, Racing

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

One Odessa man is behind bars following a major crash on Monday night.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the intersection of 42nd and JBS Parkway.

Authorities say an investigation revealed a black 2004 Chevrolet Intimidator was racing northbound in the 4100 block of JBS Parkway, failed to control speed and caused an accident with three other vehicles.

According to the report, a 32-year-old man and a 39-year-old female sustained head and neck injuries and were taken to Medical Center Hospital.

Officers say they later spoke with the driver of the Intimidator, identified as Gerald Dick, 50. Dick told officers that he was racing another vehicle, lost control and hit the other vehicles.

Officials say as they were talking with Dick they could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him.

Dick was arrested and charged with two counts of intoxication assault and racing.
