Man Arrested Following Reckless Driver Call in Big Spring

BIG SPRING, TX (KWES) - One man was arrested following an incident in Big Spring.

Big Spring Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the 2600 block of South Gregg in reference to a reckless driver that hit a vehicle.

Authorities say they located the vehicle in the 400 block of N. Lamesa Highway and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

The driver ignored the officer's lights and siren and that's when Big Spring Police Officer drove ahead of the vehicle, got out of his patrol car and saw that the driver was slumped over the wheel and non-responsive.

According to the report, that's when a decision was made to position a police unit in front of the vehicle to get the vehicle to stop.

Police say the plan was successful and caused a low impact collision with the suspect vehicle.

The driver, identified as Jeffrey Martin Edwards, 46, was found to be intoxicated and arrested for driving while intoxicated.

An investigation also revealed that Edwards struck a second vehicle while traveling on South Gregg and North Lamesa.
