Second Suspect Arrested in Connection With Odessa Shooting

ODESSA, TX (KWES) -

A second suspect has been arrested in a shooting and car theft in Odessa.

36-year-old Yancey Laymon is now in custody.

His alleged partner in crime was already locked up on drug charges.

Both faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the report, Laymon and Hernandez went into Israel Service Mechanic in June to use the restroom.

The two allegedly stole a car from the shop.

The owners didn't report it but they spotted it later the same night and began chasing it.

The owners came head to head with the thieves.

Deputies say one of the suspects fired shots and hit 33-year-old Jaime Franco.

Franco had gunshot wounds to the neck and chest area.

He is okay.

The stolen car was later found in a pasture.
