Upton County Commissioner Arrested, Accused of Deadly Conduct

UPTON COUNTY, TX (KWES) -

One Upton County Commissioner is in hot water after being arrested and accused of deadly conduct.

The Upton County Sheriff’s Office tells NewsWest 9, David “Rowdy” Mooney was arrested on Saturday morning.

According to officials, Mooney pulled out or displayed a firearm during an altercation with the owner of Elena’s Restaurant in McCamey.

We’re told police were called to the scene but Mooney had already left.

He was caught at his home and was arrested.

This isn’t Mooney’s first time of being in trouble with the law.

Back in November of 2014, Mooney and another Precinct 3 employee were accused of urinating on office chairs and trash cans belonging to employees of Precinct 4.

It wasn’t until the review of surveillance photos and questioning that the allegations were confirmed.

The Precinct 3 employee was fired and an investigation was launched to determine if Mooney would lose his seat.

Mooney’s bond has been set at $15,000.
