MIDLAND, TX (KWES) - The Midland Independent School District has decided to suspend uniform requirements for the first six weeks of the 2015 school year.
Officials say the decision is due to allowing families who are attending a different school, or who may be granted a transfer from their assigned school, time to acquire the appropriate uniform.
However, the Midland ISD dress code is still in effect.
We're told students who are attending Carver Center, Bowie Fine Arts Academy, Pease Communication & Technology Academy, or Washington Math & Science Institute, should wear their assigned uniforms beginning at the start of the school year.
School officials say the uniform exception does not apply to junior high schools or the freshman schools; secondary students should wear their assigned uniforms.
For high school students, the Midland ISD dress code remains in effect.
