HOBBS, NM (KWES) - A Hobbs man is behind bars following an incident on Tuesday morning in Hobbs.

Hobbs Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the 400 block of North Thorp in reference to a subject with a gun.

When police arrived on the scene, they made contact with a female victim who reported that she was getting ready for work and heard a loud bang on her front door.

The woman told police that she opened the door and saw a black male, later identified as Joe Franklin, 49, yelled at the woman and pointed what she believed was a gun at her and the woman believed Franklin was going to shoot her.

According to the report, a large shoe print was seen on the victim's front door and the door frame was cracked.

Police say as they were canvassing the area, they saw another large foot print on a door nearby. The owner of that home reported to police that Franklin had kicked open his front door, walked into the home and immediately walked back outside.

Police later located a shed door open in the 300 block of West Snyder and they found Franklin inside the shed.

Upon further investigation, authorities were able to match the shot print to the woman's front door and police also found a taser/stun gun along with a black pistol style gun used for small arrows.
