ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Odessa Crime Stoppers are looking for a thief that made off with a $300 drill at Home Depot. After he made his swipe, he was picked up at the door before security could reach him and it was all caught on camera. The suspect gets out of his vehicle, walks into Home Depot and the cameras suggest he's a normal shopper, but when he gets his hands on a Milwaukee Drill, we find out he didn't quite nail this crime.
"He walks around for a minute, then goes to pick up a pair of gloves," said Susan Rogers with Odessa Crimestoppers. "He walks over and looks at a Milwaukee Hammer Drill. He looks at it for quite a while, then walks off, comes back, picks it up and walks right out the front door with it."
He walked in, passed the counter, and he knows the drill. It may be safe to say, if he was willing to steal an item from Home Depot, he probably has a screw loose.
"What you can see, the guy has got flip flops on. you can see him pretty good," Rogers said. "The way he walks and how he's carrying himself, I think somebody will recognize him that way."
On his way out, he hides behind another customer carrying a cart full of lumber. He must be thinking "it's time to bolt," but this guy is nuts if he thinks he won't find himself caught on camera.
"He was able to get into this Mitsubishi Outlander," said Rogers. "There was somebody else driving it when they pulled up there to get him so we know someone else is working with him. It is clear enough video, I think someone will recognize him."
