ODESSA, TX (KWES) - Two men are behind bars following an early morning incident in Odessa.
Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the 2700 block of Hilltop at 1:30 a.m. Thursday in reference to a burglary in progress.
When officers arrived on the scene, officers saw two men checking the door handles of a white 2014 Ford F-150.
Police say when officers attempted to make contact with the two men, they immediately fled the scene.
The men, Luis Aguilar, 17, and Robert Murrillo, Jr., 19, were eventually caught by officers.
According to the report, an investigation revealed that Aguilar and Murrillo had also tried to break into a home in the 2700 block of Hilltop.
The owner of the home told police that both suspects tried to enter the home by pushing up on windows in the backyard but the homeowner drew his firearm on Aguilar and Murrillo to protect himself and his property.
Officials say Murrillo initially refused to give his name or date of birth to officers but later provided it when they arrived at the jail.
Murrillo has been charged with attempted burglary of a habitation, evading arrest or detention, attempted burglary of a vehicle, false identification-fugitive from justice and for a warrant.
