Hobbs Man Sentenced For Violating Gun Laws

HOBBS, NM (KWES) -

A Hobbs man is on his way to prison for violating gun laws.

Carlos Cruz was sentenced to 18 months behind bars.

His wife and their son were also convicted on the same charges.

The three were the former owners of Hobbs Satellite Company Guns and Ammo.

Prosecutors say Cruz and his wife admitted to selling 2,500 rounds of ammunition to an illegal immigrant.

The report says the three backed up a false statement by a straw purchaser who bought two guns for a person working for the bureau of alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives.

Under the plea agreement, the Cruz’s had to forfeit 165 guns, six silencers and more than 25,000 rounds of ammunition.
