One Killed, Another Injured in Reeves County Accident

REEVES COUNTY, TX (KWES) - A Fort Stockton man is dead and another person is recovering following an evening accident in Reeves County.

The accident happened on U.S. Highway 285 on Friday night, about three and half miles south of Pecos.

DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, a 2007 International tractor-trailer was traveling southbound along with a 2003 Peterbuilt tractor-trailer.

Officials say the Peterbuilt tractor-trailer attempted to pass the International tractor-trailer in the left lane when the driver of the Peterbuilt tractor-trailer began to turn left onto a lease road.

The two big rigs collided and the collision caused the International tractor-trailer to burst into flames and came to rest in a barrow ditch.

The driver of the International tractor trailer, Abraham Cereceres, 49, of Fort Stockton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Peterbuilt tractor-trailer, Manuel Sanchez-Cobarrubias, 50, of Saucillo, Mexico, was taken to Reeves County Hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
