Six Suspects Arrested Following Online Solicitation Operation

MIDLAND – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) today announced the arrests of 6 suspects during a multi-agency operation in the Midland area targeting alleged sexual predators.

The investigation, led by DPS Criminal Investigations Division (CID) special agents, was an online undercover effort to identify and apprehend sexual predators participating in the online solicitation of minors.

“The deplorable criminals who prey on the vulnerability of children are a serious threat to the safety of our communities, and DPS remains committed to working with our local, state and federal law enforcement partners to identify, pursue and prosecute these dangerous predators,” said DPS Commander Carey Matthews.

Texas Highway Patrol, Midland County Sheriff’s Office SWAT, Midland County District Attorney’s Office, Midland Fire Department, and Homeland Security Investigations were also involved in the operation.

The following suspects were arrested on state charges for online solicitation of a minor, a second-degree felony, and booked into the Midland County Jail:

• Jay Dale Brown, 20, of Midland
• Charlie Ray Archuleta, 19, of Odessa
• Johnny Klassen Sawatzky, 23, of Seminole
• Jason Wayne Warden, 34, of Odessa
• Michael Eric Gonzalez, 26, of Odessa
• John Melvin Brock, 52, of Andrews
