Odessa Church Burglary Suspect Arrested

ODESSA, TX (KWES) - One man is behind bars after burglarizing a church in Odessa.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the Antioch Church on Maple Street around 9:15 a.m. Friday morning in reference to a burglary in progress.

When officers arrived, a representative with the church told police that the suspect was still inside.

Police say they observed a male subject matching the suspect's description exit through doors located on the northeast side of the building.

The suspect was later identified as Darnell Polk, 33.

According to the report, as officers were searching Polk they found stolen property belonging to the church.

Polk was interviewed by detectives and they learned that Polk made entry into the church even though it wasn't open to the public.

Polk was later arrested and charged with burglary of a building.
