Suspect Arrested in Connection With June Shooting in Odessa

ECTOR COUNTY, TX (KWES) -

One man has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that took place back in June.

The Ector County Sheriff’s Office tells NewsWest 9, Blas Hernandez, III, 29, was arrested and charged in connection with the shooting of Jamie Franco, 33.

As you may recall, two suspects walked into Israel Service Mechanic Shop on June 10 to use the bathroom.

According to the report, as the suspects were leaving the business, they stole a vehicle from the mechanic shop but owners didn’t notify authorities.

Later that evening, the owners of the shop spotted the stolen vehicle pass by the body shop and they followed the stolen vehicle.

During the chase, they came head to head with one another and the suspect fired shots at the owners, hitting Franco in his left upper neck and left cheek.

It is unknown if Hernandez was the driver or passenger in the stolen vehicle.

Hernandez is currently behind bars at the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on a $60,000 bond.

The other suspect involved in the shooting is still on the run.

If you have any information on this case, contact the Ector County Sheriff’s Office at (432) 335-3050.
